Donald (Trey) Winder, III
Donald (Trey) Winder, III is a native of McMinn County Tennessee, and resides in Athens. He is a proud father of four daughters. Trey graduated magna cum laude from Tennessee Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Science in History, was a Neff Scholar, and received the John W. Burgess and the Harry Russell Caldwell awards, and was also named Outstanding Young Alumnus. He received his Juris Doctorate from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law.
Besides being the managing partner of Reid & Winder, PLLC, Trey also served as Athens Municipal Judge from 2009-2018. He is very active in our community, having served in many roles, including, but not limited to: The Business Advisory Council of the Business Administration Department at Tennessee Wesleyan University; member and former President and Treasurer of the McMinn County Bar Association; member, Distinguished Past President, and Board Director of the Athens Kiwanis Club; former Board Director and former Chairman of Keep McMinn Beautiful; former Board Director of Morning Star Ministries; former Board Director of the Hope Center and Children’s Advocacy Center; former City Park PTO President; former Athens Area Chamber of Commerce Diplomat; former Board Director of the Visiting Place; former President and Board Director of the Athens-McMinn YMCA; former member of the Legislative Affairs Committee of the Tennessee Municipal Judges Conference; Board Director Helping Hands Ministry; former Board Director of Full Circle Ministries; former tnAchieves Mentor; former Treasurer of the McMinn Lady Cherokees Booster Club; founder of the K-Kids youth leadership clubs at Westside Elementary School and North City Elementary School, and volunteer youth soccer coach.
Trey was named the 2019 Young Man of the Year by the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce. He was also recognized as “Best of the Best” by the readers of the Daily Post-Athenian in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
